Ladurée | Paris

by Wednesday, January 22, 2014

Probably the most famous salon de thé à la française. Ladurée is a traditional maison which began in 1862. The bakery and pâtisserie is one of the top sellers of the famous macaron, selling 15 000 macarons per day. Ladurée was originally only a pastry shop and opened a tearoom inside the shop in the 30’s. This was a big success for ladies, who enjoyed meeting in the freedom of the tearoom rather than their homes – as they were until then not admitted in the cafés.

In 1993, Ladurée began an international expansion which made the brand so famous outside of Paris. Ladurée now has 10 shops in Paris, 22 in Europe and 20 in the rest of the world.

If you are visiting Paris, a stop at Ladurée for a tea and some macarons which enchant your weekend! And you will feel like Marie-Antoinette in Sofia Coppola’s movie…
