My Christmas Selection | A Winter in Paris

by Tuesday, December 17, 2013

I love Paris in the winter…

As Frank Sinatra said, Paris is magical in winter… Take advantage of its sparkle in the glow of Christmas décor, enjoy the pink reflections of the sun into Paris’ monuments, wander in the cold and snowy city and enjoy its traditional cafés…

Stop at Concorde and take a stroll up the Champs-Elysées, illuminated by a thousand lights up until the Arc de Triomphe. Take a walk on the boulevard Haussmann, and peer into the windows of Galleries Lafayette. Have a walk through the Christmas markets that pop up all over the city: from the Champs-Elysées to Trocadéro, from Saint-Germain to Saint-Sulpice… Stop at the ice-skating rink in front of Hôtel de Ville and end up at Nôtre-Dame where you can enjoy the nativity and gaze up at the huge Christmas tree standing majestically in front of the cathedral.

But most importantly, enjoy the warmth of Paris’ restaurants and cafés…

For a dinner in Paris, I would recommend Chez Ferdi or Le vin de Bellechasse.

For a cosy lunch next to the fire place, go to Ralph’s, the famous restaurant of Ralph Lauren. If you want to feel like a parisian for a little while, go to Le Café de Flore, order the famous scrambled eggs while reading the newspaper. Le Café de Flore has been the meeting point of many artists and intellectuals for decades.

For an afternoon tea, Ladurée or Angelina will enchant you with its delicious macarons and other pâtisseries.
